Oxford views

On a day-trip from Brum, to the Cherwell via Ashmolean and a charming exhibition on "The Lost World of Old Europe" with ceramics from Rumania, Bulgaria and Serbia.

Real Summer sun and the Cherwell, Christ Church meadow, the Old Tom pub and a quiet half.

And a meal and a chat with a friend.

The Match

Watched Gardener's World Live during the second half of England-Algeria yesterday. More action, nicer to look at, and better results. Fewer wallflowers too.

The Banks break down

Listen to Show of Hands' wonderfully angry title track from their album "Arrogance, ignorance and greed" (SOH website for details). Seething with articulate rage at the bankers and their abuse of the public's trust. "your absolute indifference, your avarice, incompetence, your arrogance your ignorance your greed" declaims Steve Knightley. Righteous anger was never sung so powerfully. This should be played at top volume on a loop round all the finance offices of the City of London.
